IGCSE

International GCSEs is a qualification that can be taken as an alternative to the GCSE examinations, both in the United Kingdom and abroad. IGCSEs are commonly taught at Independent schools in the UK whereas public school general prefer to offer the GCSEs. Both qualifications have the same weighting in the British schooling system and allows the student to move onto Key Stage 4. The IGCSE can be taken by all students even if they wish to take a mix between GCSE and IGCSE subjects – this is entirely dependent on the preferences of our students and their parents. However, we do recommend our students to undertake IGCSE science exams (e.g. Combined Science, Triple Science etc.) if they are not in mainstream school and have not been able to complete the required core practicals as the practicals are a required component of the GCSEs but are not a required component for the IGCSE qualification.
